Vision systems being utilized in Paper mills today can capture and process millions of defects per reel.  How are operators and engineers able to deal with this tremendous amount of information?  Unfortunately, all too often the answer seems to be that mills only use a small fraction of the system capabilities, especially within facilities that are onboarding newer inexperienced operators.  The goal of this presentation is to get the user to take an unbiased look at their system and evaluate their present needs versus the original intent and implementation of the system. Often, the systems were purchased after a significant defect event that may no longer be relevant with current production and products.  

Over the course of the last three decades of evolving vision inspection technology, systems have been installed and configured to meet the immediate and short-term needs of the papermaker. With changing and evolving markets and product mixes, combined with increased demand for end-customer quality requirements, many systems are currently not optimized to meet the needs of the modern-day papermaker.
