The Influence of Small Amounts of LDPE on Surface Roughness and Resulting Haze of LLDPE Blown Films, 2005 European PLACE Conference

In a previous work we showed that by adding small amounts (up to 20%) of a free radical polymerised low density polyethylene into a Z-N catalysed octene-LLDPE a strong decrease was observed. In this report we demonstrate that, as a result of a change in morphological structure, the surface haze is primarily affected, while bulk haze remains fairly constant. Moreover, a relationship between optical haze properties and melt elasticity (i.e. recoverable shear strain parameters) estimated at low frequencies was established to fully support our thesis.
