The heat recovery system of a paper machine contains different types of heat exchangers which recover energy from the outgoing process flows back to the process. One typical recuperator type is the plate type heat exchanger, where, the incoming fresh process water is heated with the hot and humid exhaust air coming from the dryer units of the paper machine. The heat recovery rate depends strongly on the condensation occurring over the heat surfaces. One of the main aims is to maintain the condensation over the surfaces to maximize the heat recovery system output.
