2024 TAPPI Journal Yearbook, eBook

At TAPPI, we believe that knowledge-sharing fuels progress. This Yearbook is proof of that; it showcases new research published during 2024 in TAPPI Journal (TJ), our flagship research publication. All were peer-reviewed by our expert Editorial Board, with help from industry subject matter experts, and published under TJ's 100 percent Open Access publication model, which we adopted in 2023. The benefits of Open Access include improved accessibility of published articles, higher engagement, and greater visibility for our industry's busy research community. As always, copyright remains with the author and, unlike other technical journals, TJ does not require a publication fee.

In 2024, Editorial Director Monica Shaw and the TJ Editorial Board produced 12 issues, including special issues highlighting key research areas (Barrier Coating Testing, Papermaking Additives, and the Recovery Cycle) and the December 2024 tribute to the impactful work of TJ Editorial Board Member Peter W. Hart. Other topics included recycling, pulping, biofuels, paperboard, and more. Exclusively for members, the annual TJ yearbook not only collects this critical scientific research, but is also loaded with other valuable resources.

Our TJ Peer Reviewers also represent an important resource, and we thank them for sharing their expertise. While being a peer reviewer takes time, it offers outstanding benefits: it can help build your reputation as an expert in your chosen field and increases your professional exposure by establishing relationships with reputable colleagues. You will find this 2024 TAPPI Journal Yearbook a useful resource. TJ submissions often provide a first-look into the latest research on processes and products in the pulp and paper industry, as well as related fields such as nanocellulose, biorefinery, and nonwovens.
