Ultra High Pressure Waterjets - Are they Right for You?, 1990 Finishing and Converting Conference Proceedings
Since 1975, ultrahigh pressure waterjets have been used to slit, edgetrim, and tailcut a variety of materials in the paper industry. These materials include: tissue, liner board, corrugated board, fine paper, and roofing felts. The advantages of waterjet cutting include dust-free cutting, easy positioning, automatic edgetrimming, low cutting forces, redundancy and increased operating time.
In many cases, payback due to reduced downtime and increased production can be under six months.
This paper will introduce the waterjet cutting process from water pressure intensification to the actual paper cutting.
