Automated Electrified Monorail Systems for North American Paper Companies, 1994 Finishing and Converting Conference Proceedings

P. Djuric

The inherent design and technology of Automated Electrified Monorail demonstrates potential as a means of transporting and tracking paper rolls through finishing and converting process. AEM, as its commonly referred to, provides the flexibility to pickup and deliver loads, on demand, from various locations with an uptime reliability factor exceeding 99%. The independently powered units know as carriers are controlled by a central processor. This allows for automated servicing of multiple rewinders and foam wrappers, as well as, selective delivery to order build cells with a significant reduction in required labor over conventional finish roll handling methodology.
