Starch Based Hot Melts for Adhesive Applications, 1994 Hot Melt Symposium Proceedings

M. Blumenthal, C. Paul

Starch based hot melts offer a potential lower cost alternative technology for the preparation of repulpable and/or biodegradable adhesives for packaging applications such as case and carton sealing, bag ending, and roll wrap. Successful attempts at formulating such adhesives have been made in the laboratory with excellent balance of hot and cold temperature adhesion properties, excellent repulpability and comparable performance properties to conventional hot melts.
