Case History of a Line Shaft Machine Drives Speed Up, 1996 Process Control, Electrical & Info. Conference Proceedings
For some paper machine speed ups, modifications to the existing lineshaft drive become the preferred method of drives upgrade. This paper describes the decisions and the opportunities that a project engineer faces in undertaking the speedup of a lineshaft drive. Several case histories of such speedups are used to illustrate the issues, including mixing electrical and mechanical equipment, intermingling electrical drives and mechanical drives among paper machine sections, sizing equipment, selecting control strategies and cost implications.
