The Headbox - Practical Papermaking CD Series
This interactive CD teaches the basic functions of the headbox including flow spreading, deflocculation of stock, MD/CD basis weight control, fiber alignment, jet impingement, and formation. Also describes how different headbox designs accomplish these functions.
After successfully completing the lessons, you should be able to:
- Identify the basic functions of the headbox.
- Select the differences and similarities between air-padded and hydraulic headboxes.
- Show how headbox design and operation affect paper properties.
TAPPI’s Practical Papermaking Series is an interactive training course on the technical and practical aspects of papermaking.
