Ultrasonic Technology - Measurements of Papers Orientation and Elastic Properties, 1993 Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings
Magnus Titus
This paper gives a short introduction to the ultrasonic measurement technology and its usage within the paper industry.
The usage of ultrasonic measurements for measuring paper sheets orientation and anisotropy will be discussed. The difference between fibre orientation and tensile stiffness orientation will be discussed. Impact of the stresses and strains introduced into the paper sheet in the PM’s dryer section on papers hygrodimensional stability and orientation at the end use will be highlighted.
Examples of different uses of the ultrasonic technology within the paper industry as well as recent applications from linerboard and communication papers will be described and discussed.
