TCF Bleaching of ASAM Dissolving Pulps, 1994 Pulping Conference Proceedings

R. Patt, E. Gause, M. Zimmermann, O. Kordsachia, J.F. Hinck

Eucalyptus, beech, pine and spruce ASAM dissolving pulps were subjected to chlorine free bleaching sequences. The target of this investigation was to produce high brightness pulps with high x-cellulose content. Special interest was put on maintaining as high pulp viscosity as possible.

Eucalyptus pulps were used to identify the optimal starting kappa number for oxygen delignification. Further the effects of the oxygen delignification parameters and of different additive were investigated. Parameters of the ozone and the final peroxide stage were optimized in bleaching of beech pulp. OP and OZ sequences were compared. For high brightness pulps and OZP sequence was applied.
