My TAPPI Story: Naomi Gehling
Ari Ämmälä, Jouko Niinimäki--Extensive experimental work was performed with a full-scale two-stage pressure screen connected to an industrial TMP process. The aim was to provide an insight into the means of controlling a screening process. The experiments showed that with a given screen plate design, the screening result was almost exclusively dependent on mass and volumetric reject rates. The screening result could not be affected by using different combinations of operating parameters (feed consistency, rotor tip speed and slot velocity) if the mass and volumetric reject rates were kept constant. These findings may offer new guidelines for screen room control strategies.
