The new concept of screening with contoured screen plates has been very successful in the 1980’s. Fluid dynamics studies show that large improvements both in hydraulic capacity and in the capability of handling higher consistencies can be achieved with these screen plates. By using the improved rotor designs developed for utilizing the specific features of a contoured screen plate these benefits can be improved remarkably. The rotor and screen plate must be chosen to fit with the application, and each other in order to obtain optimum results.
