Tank Integrity Investigation, 2000 Engineering Conference Proceedings
R. Ross Wade, Jr.--This paper investigates some fundamentals of storage tank integrity including how tanks work, how tanks fail, and when engineering assessment is required. Examples include actual cases showing how engineering assessment can increase capacity, save money, and reduce risk. Most of the examples are for steel flat bottom tanks, but the principles apply to tanks of other materials and shapes. Understanding these principles can help develop more effective assessment procedures and reduce the risk of storage tank failure.
