Organochlorines - Challenges and Solutions, 1992 Engineering Conference Proceedings

The paper summarizes current and proposed organochlorine regulations and gives a survey of approaches by North American and Scandinavian pulp and paper mills.

Existing and emerging technologies are described. A flowsheet for a TOOZEP bleaching sequence with accompanying fibre line shows a potentially closed system.

As a means of reducing and/or eliminating organochlorines with a prediction of relative major chemical costs, bleaching at 30,18 and 10 Kappa numbers are compared.
