Brief Introduction to Rheology, 2000 Polymers, Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Lars H. Genieser--This introduction to select fundamentals of polymer fluid rheology is directed towards individuals concerned with the development of processing operations such as spreading, coating, and fiber spinning. The presentation is most useful for those new to such processing operations or needing to supplement their empirical knowledge with understanding of fundamental mechanics. Among specific topics addressed is the rheology of polymer fluids in shear flow which plays an essential role in processing operations. Extensional rheology determines behavior in flows associated with fiber spinning or blow molding. The dependence of coextrusion and coating processes on the rheology of component materials is discussed.
