Cast Embossed Film - Alternative Machine Designs to Enhance Film Properties, 2001 Polymers Laminations & Coatings Conference Proceedings
Stephen J. Post--Two processes are employed to emboss a film - a "wet" and a "dry" process. The "dry" process has significant advantages, in that it allows the processors to have complete control over the optical properties of the finished film. The disadvantage of the "dry" process is the limited heat removal applied to the rubber roll, which, in turn reduces linear output in comparison to that of the "wet" process. Limitations for heat removal are presented and new designs are proposed for improving those limitations to increase linear output.
