Corrugated goes modular, Corrugating International, January 2000, Vol. 2(1)
The corrugated industry has recently noted significant changes in the methods used by retail grocers to distribute and market produce: namely, the growing use of highly automated distribution centers supporting stores located throughout huge geographical areas, and retailers selling produce directly from shipping containers. The corrugated industry’s direct customers (produce growers/shippers) have always appreciated corrugated for its many benefits. But recently, the use of individually sized containers for hundreds of different growers/shippers has created impediments to their customers - the retailers - as they try to become more efficient in receiving produce, distributing it to their retail stores, and selling it to their customers.
