I saw my first corrugator in 1946, and managed a mill supplying medium from 1958 to 1962. I’ve been directly involved in the corrugated industry ever since. The Corrugated Containers Division of TAPPI resulted from the visionary and persistent efforts of Des Long, technical director of the then Container Corporation of America (now Smurfit-Stone). Harry Bettendorf’s excellent summary of Des’ persevering efforts were reproduced in the January issue of Corrugating International.
