Ergonomics: smarter, ergonomics: smarter, better, faster, and faster, and safer, Corrugating International, April 2001, Vol. 3(2)
What is ergonomics? Simply stated, it is using information about human abilities and limitations to design jobs, products, workplaces, and equipment. Ergonomics looks at the relationship between the work and the worker.
Many people, when asked about ergonomics, respond by listing injury types. They think of carpal tunnel, repetition, tendonitis, aging workforce, heavy lifting, long shifts, and back troubles. However, it the absence of ergonomics in our workplaces that create some of the problems that slow production, give us quality problems, and create injury potential.
