ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Joe Trungale began his career in the printing industry in 1956 and became involved in flexographic printing a few years later. In 1970 he joined Pamarco Global Graphics, a manufacturer of anilox rollers for flexographic printing presses, and rose through the ranks to Vice President, General Manager of the Western Division and a member of the Executive Board until his retirement in 1999.
He became a member of the Flexographic Technical Association, becoming National Workshop Chairman for 2-1/2 years. Trungale was inducted into the prestigious FTA Hall of Fame in 1985 and later served on the FTA Board of Directors for six years.
Trungale worked with the Fox Valley Technical College as an industry instructor for basic flexographic printing and gave lectures for over 24 years at the college. He also has made technical presentations at Clemson University and the University of Western Michigan.
During the 1970's flexographic printing of corrugated was just getting started and in 1973 Trungale joined TAPPI and began working with the Printing Committee, holding various assignments and later serving as Chairman of the Committee. In 1990, he became a member of the Division Leadership team, going through the chairs to become National Chairman in 1993, working with other corrugated associations to cut back on the number of exhibitions and instead holding major shows every four years. Corr-Expo was a dream in 1993 and became a reality in 2000. TAPPI honored Trungale in 2003 with the distinguished Service and Leadership award.
Upon retirement Trungale was asked to write the first and only book on anilox rolls, an integral part of the flexographic printing process. TAPPI has published the second edition of his book.
