A study was commissioned by the TAPPI Tissue Division in 2017.  It was designed and conducted by Fisher International.  The study investigates the data sophistication of the North American Tissue industry and consists of a full report and executive summary.  It is based on a survey and interviews with process automation experts and includes a full analysis by Fisher.  Findings highlight opportunities to close the data sophistication gap.

Data Sophistication is the high level use and integration of data to reduce cost, improve uptime, improve quality and reduce the need for manual labor.  Examples include advanced visualization tools, predictive process controls, online measurements and purchasing optimization.
