The last “Pigments for Paper” book was published over twenty-five years ago. Many step-function changes have occurred in the paper industry since then. With the advance of the internet, the production and consumption of papers have decreased precipitously. However, the same internet and digital media that accelerated the decline of graphic paper is also responsible for fueling the demand for paperboard due to increased e-commerce activities. Hence, the title of this book has been changed to “Pigments for Paper and Paperboard” to reflect the growth in the paperboard sector.
This book compiles the most comprehensive information on nearly every pigment used in paper coating and filling. This text will enable the reader to understand the fundamental properties of these materials and how these properties are utilized to achieve the desired performance attributes and cost effectiveness. The information is basic to intermediate and serves as an introductory text and practical reference. It also serve as a reference text for college students and teachers in paper science and engineering and related programs.
