Wax in pulp, paper and paperboard, Test Method T 574 pm-04


Wax is extracted from 3-5 grams oven-dry test specimen using a Soxhlet-type extraction assembly. The solvent used in the extraction is methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). Most solvent is then evaporated and the extracted
wax is dried at 105±3°C. The wax content in the sample is gravimetrically determined based on the dry weight of extracted wax.
