An improved process for the preparation of polysulfide cooking liquor has been developed by Mitsubishi Paper Mills Ltd. (MPM), and Chiyoda Corporation. This process has been successfully operated since July, 1987 at the Shirakawa Mill and since April, 1990 at the Hachinohe Mill. Polysulfide pulping gives more pulp yield and reduces the load on the recovery boiler with little change in pulp quality.
