BRITISH COLUMBIA HAS ADOPTED regulations limiting the discharge of AOX (adsorbable organic halide) to less than 1.5 kg/metric ton of pulp produced beginning in January 1996. Skeena Cellulose Inc.(SCI) is investigating technologies that will help meet the regulations without significant capital investment. Beyond the immediate environmental issue, the mill is also investigating strategies to reduce production costs and to extend the supply of wood raw materials.
