We have assessed a method based on diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectromety (DRIFT) for the rapid determination of lignin and carbohydrates (arabinose, galactose, glucose, mannose, and xylose) in pulp. The method can also be used to assess process properties such as pulp yield.
