Chip thickness has been recognized as one of the key factors for efficient pulping and good pulp quality. Today the strive for extended cooking and, in the same time, for better pulp quality addresses the thickness issue even more. The present paper describes a study, where differently screened chip samples were cooked in baskets and placed inside normally operating industrial batch digesters.
