Bonding solutions for specialty coated paper, Corrugating International, April 2004 (331KB)
Functional paper coatings continue to evolve, improving perfor-
mance and meeting the needs of various specialty applications. At the forefront of this development are specialty papers designed for wax replacement, allowing box makers to make recyclable waterproof boxes in place of wax-coated boxes. One of the greatest barriers to this technology has been the ability to efficiently and effectively bond these coatings. As papers become more water resistant, standard bonding techniques cease to be effective. This issue is increasingly important when dealing with specialty treated mediums. To address these bonding and runnability issues, new adhesive strategies need to be employed.
