In co -operation with the University of Helsinki and the University of Joensuu, VTT is developing starch based non-mineral paper pi gments to replace mineral pigments. The purpose of this paper is to introduce some coating results of developed starch pigments. Pilot scale coating and filler trials were performed at Western Michigan University pilot facilities.
