My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
As oil and gas costs continue to skyrocket, energy-intensive industries such as the pulp and paper industry are seeing a huge impact on their fixed costs. To minimize their costs for purchased energy, many mills have started to look very carefully at ways to recover heat from the process in any way possible. This paper discusses the use of compact heat exchangers in heat recovery applications and how they can help a mill earn rapid return on investment as continued long-term energy savings. There will be several examples illustrating how a mill can take heat that is often dumped to a sewer or blown out a cooling tower and use it in applications that previously required steam generated by purchased energy.
