This presentation will provide an update on the start-up and operation of the world’s first commercial low temperature black liquor gasification system at the Norampac Mill in Trenton, Ontario, Canada. The mill is a semi-chemical operation producing corrugating medium from hardwood chips and OCC. The presentation will include a discussion of how this proprietary technology works, and a review of the configuration, design, construction and operating results of the black liquor gasification system. Continuing R&D efforts will also be reviewed.
