Plant maintenance improvement programs are often started with grandiose goals and much ado. However, the vast majority of these programs either run out of steam at an early stage, or lumber on in a lackluster manner until a new initiative takes over. They come to be viewed as resource burdens rather than a means to enhance overall productivity and increase profitability. However, this need not be the case.
