My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
A comprehensive experimental data set has been collected for single black liquor droplets reacting under both oxidizing and non-oxidizing conditions. Single droplets were suspended on a thermocouple and heated in a furnace. Simultaneous diameter (size and shape), internal and surface temperatures, surface emissivity, and mass were measured under various furnace temperatures and gas compositions. Images of burning droplets were obtained which provide insights into black liquor reactions relevant to gasification processes.
