PAPER

Scott Wilson has been appointed as the chief financial officer and vice-president, finance for Canfor Corp.

International Paper elected Alberto Weisser to its board of directors.

Mohawk Paper Mills Inc. named Bart Robinson as manager, channel development. In addition Tom Senneff was named district sales manager-South Central region and John O’Connor as senior vice president administration & Strathmore Artist Papers.

Gary Jones joined Monadnock Paper Mills Inc. as vice president, marketing/operations.

Schweitzer-Mauduit International Inc. elected Manuel J. Iraola to its board of directors.

Vicki B. Arthur, currently staff vice president and treasurer of Sonoco, has been named division vice president and general manager – Kraft.

Stora Enso has appointed Hannu Ryöppönen as new chief financial officer (CFO) and senior executive vice president, finance, accounting, legal affairs and investor relations as beginning September 1, 2005.

Bodil Eriksson has been appointed senior vice president communications and investor relations at Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget (SCA).

Temple-Inland Inc. announced that James M. DeCosmo has been named group vice president - forest.

 

SUPPLIER

Albany International Corp. has named Joseph Morone to succeed Frank Schmeler as CEO.

Effective August 1, 2005, Michael J. Shannon will be promoted to executive vice president for Ashland’s Chemical Sector global supply chain. In addition, Paul DeVivo has been named vice president for Ashland Specialty Chemical’s Water Technologies International businesses, effective August 1.

Eurotherm announced the appointment of Tom Scheck as director of Eurotherm Flexible Solutions.

FKI Logistex appointed Glen Chambers as regional director and Paul Swietlinski as business development manager for the Canadian operations of its North American manufacturing systems unit.

Thomas C. Leonard was elected to the board of directors for Kadant Inc.

Eckhard Wenderoth took over as head of Lanxess’s paper business unit on June 1, 2005.

Marcel G. Hage has been named group vice president, North America for Maxcess International, the parent company of Fife, MAGPOWR and Tidland. Ken Hopcus was chosen to lead the web handling applications team.

OMNOVA Solutions promoted Jeff Bowersox to vice president, finance and continuous improvement for the performance chemicals business unit.

Ian Knowles joined Sun Chemical Performance Pigments as business development manager and Scott Butler was name technical sales manager, North America.

Hans-Peter Sollinger and Bertram Staudenmaier have been appointed to the corporate management board of Voith Paper.

 

RETIREMENT

Hans Müller, member of the corporate management board of Voith AG, Heidenheim, retired on April 30th, 2005.

Glen Wickett has retired after more than 43 year with Weyerhaeuser Co.

 

DEATHS

Walter Frederick Bachelder, chief executive officer for Testing Machines Inc. died. Bachelder served on TAPPI’s board of directors from 1981-1984 and was named a TAPPI Fellow in 1984.

TAPPI member, Alex Henderson passed away on March 30, 2005.

Richard Trelfa, a member of TAPPI since 1947 died. Trelfa was active in the Coating and Graphics Arts Division. He was named a TAPPI Fellow in 1968.
