Former White Water Management, 2005 Papermakers Conference
The balance of a paper machine white water system plays an important roll in raw material loss, water and
energy consumption at the machine wet end. This paper presents an improvement project about an
enclosed white water system for a special Fourdrinier former. The white water system was modified,
resulting in a 90% reduction of raw material loss from the wet end.
The change also improved the
operating efficiency of the paper machine wet end.
The case presented here represents a specific example for the particular Fourdrinier former in this special
paper mill. However, the author hopes that readers can get some hints from this example and apply similar
techniques to their white water systems.
