Organic Starch Based Pigments in Paper Coatings, 2006 TAPPI Advanced Coating Fundamentals Symposium

In co-operation with the University of Helsinki and the University of Joensuu, VTT has developed starch based non-mineral pigments to replace mineral pigments in paper production. The purpose of this paper is to introduce some coating results of developed starch pigments. Pilot scale coating trials were run using Western Michigan University pilot facilities.
