In this paper we are presenting two online inspection systems used to monitor decor paper quality in a real time. We begin with the high speed cameras, which are primarily used for the web break monitoring process. These cameras are installed in the paper machine at its most critical locations. A short architectural description of the camera system followed by the presentation of main functions of the operator console and life visualization screen will be presented. After that we will focus on some practical examples and our experience with the camera systems. Next we discuss the second system used for online defect detection. We start with the presentation of the main system components, focusing on the image capturing and defect display mode. After that we will present a short overview of different tools, which can be used for defect analysis. Than we will look at some examples of typical defects and we will end our presentation with a comparison between the online inspection system and a traditional off line method.
