The volume of Transparent Barrier Coating used in commercial and industrial applications is growing. The target markets for these coatings require the delivery of stable, high quality coatings. Compared to all other vacuum web coating processes, EB-evaporation delivers the highest coating speed and productivity.

This paper gives an update on the state of the art of technology for Transparent Barrier Coatings with EB-evaporation and shows recent results of our work regarding improvements of coating uniformity as well as an outlook for other applications.
