The equipment designs and resin grades used in the film extrusion process may change in either a revolutionary or evolutionary way. However, the basic principles that govern how these two interact are the same considerations that allow troubleshooting problems that arise.
Equipment design parameters, equipment settings and the processing conditions imposed, resin and rework inputs and the fundamental principals that should be looked at are delineated. The polymer viewpoint is emphasized.
A method of examining these and the records that should be kept is discussed. The importance of time, temperature, pressure, rate, sequence, equilibrium, environment and wear troubleshooting are explored.
