A new technology, based on the use of VERSIFY™ plastomers, has been developed for the manufacture of easy-open flexible packaging. This new technology provides consistent, clean, peelable seals when bags are fabricated over a wide range of seal temperatures and packaging conditions. It can be used in monolayer, coextruded, and laminated film structures. The new technology is shown to provide low heat seal initiation temperatures, superior hot tack strength, a broader hot tack window, and improved organoleptic properties compared to traditional peelable seal technology. The technology can be used to make packaging for items as cereal, crackers, snacks, and processed meat.
