The goal of this paper is to describe the “low-hanging fruit” opportunities that have been addressed with the use of cost-effective on-line equipment to increase the efficiency of existing technologies. This paper will assist facilities in identifying technologies available for maximizing energy, water and chemical savings. In boiler and cooling tower applications, improved monitoring and control improves boiler efficiencies by reducing the possibility of boiler contamination, which causes boiler deposition, and reduction of heat transfer efficiency. Even a 1% efficiency increase could have a significant impact on energy consumption.
