If sheet black spots, holes, and tears are attributed to things like “Some problem with the press section”; perhaps digging deeper for a solution is indicated. In the case of machine cleanliness; digging deeper means looking into the condition of such as wire channel, disc filters, bow screens, and thickeners, as well as fiber and water tanks.
Consideration should be given to the elimination of the build up of pink slime and de-composed fiber; with its ultimate discharge into the sheet furnish, and blockage of the process flows.
There is also potential for loss of vapor exhausting due to fiber build up in exhaust channels resulting in poor levels of pulp “freeness”, or ability to hold water. If there is potential for a 2-3% production increase, a dramatic reduction of manual cleaning labor hours, a reduction in biocide usage, fewer breaks, and a higher quality product; a review of online cleaning systems practices seems indicated.
