Historically the main purpose of the shoe press sleeve was to encapsulatuate the system's hydraulic fluid at the press nip. With the development of the polyurethane derivatives, most presses can now experience long life during which the sleeve exhibits a high degree of chemical resistance, minimal cracking, and very low wear rates. By overcoming these obstacles, the sleeve surface geometry can be altered to truly provide the best opportunity to more fully realize the economic potential of the installed shoe press.
