The question of steambox efficiency is a controversial one as there have been vastly different experiences with the manysteamboxes installed at the wet end of paper machines. This paper takes a fresh look to the heating and profiling efficiency ofwet-end steamboxes to benchmark the performance of a new steambox concept that has produced significantly better resultsboth in profiling and the total energy consumption, its own and the downstream energy consumption it can influence.Technical features are briefly mentioned and mill results presented.
