This paper will focus on how to use a process data historian based real-time infrastructure in P&P mills to mine process data for decision support. This will include some best case examples of how operators, engineers and managers have used this decision support infrastructure for reduced energy consumption, condition-based maintenance, emissions monitoring, environmental data monitoring, near real-time production costing, quality control monitoring, and process troubleshooting.
