The reliability of paper machine rolls can have a significant impact on machine efficiency and a mill’s profitability. By reducing unscheduled downtime due to roll problems, and increasing the roll change interval, one can lower the overall cost of operation in a paper mill.

Through review of roll reliability records and engineering design reviews, the weak areas of a roll can be precisely identified and design enhancements can be implemented to improve the roll’s reliability.
