Cationic polyacrylamides (c-PAMS) are flocculants commonly used as retention aids and as sludge dewatering agents. We have recently found that cyclodextrins (CDs) can boost the performance of c-PAMs for the sludge appli-cation at very low dosage. Studies on the interaction of c-PAM and ¥â-CD through light scattering particle size measurements have shown that the particle size distribution of c-PAMs can change dramatically in the presence of the CD.
