Automation offers a cost-effective means to improve the performance of the energy generation processes. Rising energy costs increase the pressure for cost savings in energy generation. Combustion optimization in fluidized bed boilers offers a possibility to utilize a larger proportion of very poor quality fuels. The coupling of grate combustion technology and combustion optimization can help to increase and stabilize production capacity.
To ensure the minimum waste of steam, steam production should always match steam demand as closely as possible, which may be challenging with solid fuel fired boilers. Optimizing the steam generation together with utilization of power station internal energy reserves offers a cost-efficient way to minimize steam losses. At the same time utilization of lowest cost fuels can be ensured. Optimization of the steam network can also be combined with the optimization of electrical generation against a known or predicted electricity price.
