The use of a Mobile Test Unit (MTU) allows the client the necessary information to answer the question, “What are the benefits of burning petroleum coke in my lime kiln operation”? The use of this equipment allows the client to perform a test that will mirror their current operation. The information collected can provide actual operating data related to petroleum coke feed rate, primary fuel flow, substitution rate, and the ability to determine the money saved from burning this alternate fuel. This information will also provide the necessary environmental information for obtaining a permanent operating permit. Other benefits include operator experience in burning an alternate fuel in the lime kiln, building a working relationship with a supplier of a permanent feeding system, and establishing a relationship with a petroleum coke supplier.
